Houston's House Prices Soar, Making Top 20 in the U.S.

Houston's house prices went up last year. Now, it's one of the top 20 places in the U.S. with the most expensive houses, says a report from Zillow.

The total worth of all U.S. houses is now $52 trillion. That's a lot more than last year. One reason is that the average house price went up a little bit.

But the main reason is that more new houses were built.

Zillow's expert, Orphe Divounguy, said that even though some people didn't want to buy houses because of high loan rates, there were still many who did. Builders saw this and built more houses. So, there were more new houses sold this year.

Houston's houses were worth over $763 billion in June. That's 3.5% more than last year, which is about $26 billion more. Texas is the fourth state with the most expensive houses. Its total house worth went up to $3.4 trillion.

New York City has the most expensive houses in the U.S. They are worth over $4.2 trillion. That's 4.2% more than last year. After New York, the next cities with expensive houses are Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Boston.
