Many Californians Are choosing To Move To Houston To Save Money

A study from StorageCafe showed that Californians can save up to $646,000 when they buy a house in Houston instead of in California. The reason for this big move? Houston is cheaper, doesn’t have income tax, and many people can now work from home. In 2021, a big number, about 111,000 people, moved from California to Texas. If you compare the prices, a house in Houston costs around $403,490 on average. But in places like San Diego, California, a house can be close to $870,000. Renting is also cheaper in Houston. In big California cities, monthly rent can be over $2,600. But in Houston, it's just about $1,336. Because of these reasons, the study believes that many more people will keep moving from California to Texas in the coming years.
